Built for readers who care about the details

About a Book started with a simple, universal frustration: finishing a book by an author you love and not knowing what they've written, what's coming next, or where to start with the rest of their catalog.

For avid readers — particularly those who follow specific authors and series — this isn't a small problem. It's the difference between picking up the next Jack Ryan book on release day and finding out, eight months later, that you missed it entirely. Between knowing exactly which Sue Grafton you have left to read and rediscovering one you finished in 2019.

We believe readers deserve better than scrolling through a search result, squinting at publication dates, and hoping the list is complete. We believe series matter. We believe the moment a beloved author announces a new release should be a celebration — not a Google search.

What we do

About a Book tracks every author you love, every series you're following, and every book you've already read. When a new release is announced, we tell you — usually months before it hits shelves. When you finish a series, we point you toward the authors and books you'll fall for next.

Our database is built on years of careful work. Every author and every book has been verified through multiple sources. We don't show you junk listings, audiobook narrators mistaken for authors, or fictional characters listed alongside real writers. We've built this slowly because we wanted to build it right.

Who we built it for

We built this for the woman who's read every Nora Roberts book and wants to know what's worth her time next. For the reader who picks up Where the Crawdads Sing in book club and wonders what else Delia Owens has written. For the lifelong Tom Clancy fan who needs to know which co-authored Jack Ryan books are worth reading. For the person who falls in love with a debut novelist and wants to know the moment book two is announced.

We built this for ourselves, and for people like us.
